Life Groups
The Purpose for a life Group is for believers to grow in their faith, by sharing life with one another through shared meal, shared prayer and shared time in the word. Life Groups serve as a wonderful environment for non- believers and for those who don’t have a church family to connect to the love of Christ at CCC. The groups are a safe place for people to come to faith as they see us grow in freedom in Christ and in our identity in Christ as we walk by the Spirit of Christ in His word. All this done in a heartfelt community of God. But our main goal is to share life as Christian family, to be known and get to know other believers. This is not a Bible study. Our focus is on fellowship, but we do take time to pray for one another and sometimes dig into the Bible as we have time or as there are questions or concerns.
How We Share Life
- Share a meal with one another (serving and caring for another)
- Share prayer requests for God’s help in our lives and praise of what God is doing in our life
- Share time in God’s word (review of sermon text, of what you learned recently, or what you observe in God’s word as it applies to your life.
Function of The Groups
- Size of the group-Start out 6-8 adults
- Grow up to 10-12 adults–Max 14-16 people
- Groups begin small so there is room to invite others into the group (those who do not attend our church or are new to CCC)
Time Span of the Groups – 8 Weeks
- Groups meet at least twice a month, going for 4 months
- Two Semesters: Feb-May and Aug-Nov
- No Groups during Jun-July and Dec-Jan
- Each new semester, people can then be free to join a new Group or host and lead a Group, or return to the Group they were in.
Benefits of the 8 Week Semester Model
- Gives leaders and hosts time to rest
- Gives people freedom to choose other groups
- Provides time for training of current and new leaders
- Allows people to commit but also not feel trapped
